 F.A.Q.

I have designed this page based on Questions that I am repeatedly asked about Ragdolls. Please note that the answers are only my opinion based on my experience.

Q.  I would like to find a companion for my cat who has recently lost her life partener. Would a ragdoll be the right cat?.

 A. Yes,   I have homed many kittens in this situation and the results have been rewarding
This photo was taken in less than a week of Bella moving in.

My kittens have been reared to respect their elders due to the fact they are reared by not only their mum, who always is right but in the company of grandparents, older brothers and sisters, aunties and uncles not forgetting their brothers and sisters from the same litter and play mates from another litter if they are lucky.

Q.  Can my ragdoll go out side?.

A.  Yes,    I have a fenced in garden and my cats love to sit out there in the sun or shade they love to eat the grass and drink a bit of rain water.  The door will always be open and half an eye out to what they are up too.  I would never dream of letting them out and shutting the door on them and most
certainly not let them out of the garden.                 ......... Mika left home in 2007.

Q.   I live on my own and would like a Ragdoll cat but I have been adviced to get two so they dont get lonely or depressed?.

A.   If you are going to leave your Ragdoll for long periods of time then no matter how many you have they will get bored, loney and depressed.  A ragdoll makes a great only child and will revel in being spoit and the centre of attention.

There are advantages to having two Ragdolls especially from the same litter but depending on what your requirments are from your pet then two could be a disadvantage.

Q. Why cant my kitten leave home before 13 weeks old.?

A.  Kittens have thier first vet check and vaccination at 9 weeks old and thier second at 12 weeks old.  Vaccination cover is not truly safe untill one week after the second jab and check making your kitten 13 weeks old.

Ragdoll kittens are large kittens and do not mature untill they are 4 years old, up to this age they remain very much a kitten.  This can be a disadvantage to a Ragdoll due to thier size people think they are quite able to look out for them selves but this is not the case, it just makes it easier for them to fall out of windows, jump into hot baths and get access to higher places from which they can have a fatal fall.

Kittens leaving home at 20 plus weeks old is a nice age

Q. How will my Ragdoll kitten cope a long car journey?

 A.  I have had a kitten travel to scotland, which was a very long journey.

The new ownwer reported she was not bothered and slept most of the way

. She also travels to and from shows with no problems.

I also delivered a kitten from the same litter to southampton to a wonderful lady who had some little dogs she had rescued,

the journey did not bother her at all.

. When we arrived she sat on my lap in the lounge and was introduced to the other family members, one was a house rabbit,

they were all very well mannered and she made herself right at home.
